Platform Migration and Strategic SEO Growth

Ecommerce growth

A wellness brand came to us on an aging OpenCart store that was holding back growth and quietly putting its search rankings at risk. They needed to move to Shopify without losing the organic visibility they had spent years building. We planned and ran the migration SEO-first, rebuilt the store for speed and conversions, then kept optimizing after launch. Revenue and organic performance both grew, and the rankings came through the move intact.

About the brand

The brand helps people improve long-term wellness through simple, science-backed daily habits. It focuses on natural health products, led by its signature drink positioned to support cardiovascular health for people who want an easier, more holistic way to manage their blood pressure. The products and the audience were solid. The store they were selling on was the bottleneck.

The challenge

The old OpenCart store was slow, hard to manage, and missing the integrations a modern wellness brand needs: subscriptions, automated email flows, and product bundles. Each of those gaps capped revenue the catalog could have earned. The bigger risk was search. The brand held valuable keyword rankings, and a platform migration is exactly where that kind of equity disappears when it is handled carelessly. Change the URLs without a plan and Google drops the pages it had ranked, taking the traffic with them. For a subscription-driven wellness brand, the platform is also the revenue engine. Without native subscriptions and email automation, every repeat order depended on the customer remembering to come back on their own. They needed an OpenCart to Shopify move that protected organic visibility while improving speed, manageability, and conversions.

How we did it

A replatform is a search project as much as a design project. The gains above came from treating it that way, in this order. Before anything moved, we benchmarked the existing rankings, organic traffic, and top-converting pages, so we knew exactly what to protect and could prove afterward that the migration had held

Mapping every URL before we moved anything

A migration lives or dies on redirects. Before touching the new store, we crawled the full OpenCart site and built a complete inventory of live URLs, then mapped each one to its Shopify equivalent. Every old URL got a 301 redirect to the right new page, so the ranking signals Google had attached to the old addresses carried forward rather than vanishing. We paid the most attention to the pages that already ranked and converted, because those are the ones a rushed migration quietly loses. Redirect mapping is unglamorous, and it is the single biggest reason a migration either holds its rankings or craters. We treated it as step one.

Rebuilding on Shopify for speed and conversions

With the redirect map in hand, we built a fast Shopify theme tuned to a wellness audience. Product pages were rewritten to sell and to rank, navigation was streamlined so shoppers reached the right product in fewer clicks, and the mobile experience was rebuilt for the phone-first way people buy supplements. We wired in the tools the OpenCart store never had: subscriptions for repeat orders, automated email flows, and clean analytics. Trust carries more weight in health and supplements than in most categories, so product pages were built to surface ingredients, clear claims, and reviews right where a cautious buyer looks for them. A store that loads fast and guides the buyer is what turns preserved traffic into revenue, and it is where the conversion gains came from.

Protecting rankings through the switch and after

An SEO-first migration does not end at launch. We kept technical SEO tight through the cutover, with clean site architecture and internal linking that pointed authority at the pages meant to rank. We staged the new store and tested the redirects before flipping DNS, so the switch itself was a controlled step rather than a gamble. After go-live we monitored crawl behavior, watched for redirect gaps, and kept refining content and structure for the long term. Migrations often show a short dip before they recover, so planning for that window is part of the job. Here the organic sessions climbed well past the old baseline.

The strategy we ran

The brand worked closely with our team across the whole project, from migration planning through post-launch optimization. The strategy we put together covered:

  • Search engine optimization (SEO)
  • OpenCart to Shopify migration
  • Technical SEO and internal linking
  • Conversion rate optimization

“Our website is always adding more new traffic & better converting online sales. I’m glad to be working on such a successful project with this awesome team!”

For Brand, we put together a robust migration and SEO strategy that includes:

+40 %

Ecommerce
growth

236 %

Increase in organic sessions

131 %

Overall surge in organic and paid performance, with sustained growth post-migration

What other stores can take from this

The brands that come through a migration stronger map and redirect every URL and rebuild for speed and conversions. Then they keep watching the data for weeks after launch, when the real recovery happens. Skip the redirect work to save time and you can hand back years of rankings in a single weekend. Plan it SEO-first and the new platform becomes a growth lever rather than a reset.
